About This Place

La Tour Cafe in Pearl City, HI, is a charming American and European-inspired restaurant that also doubles as a delightful sandwich shop and dessert haven. Perfectly blending classic comfort foods with refined European touches, this eatery stands out as a go-to spot whether you’re craving a satisfying lunch, a sweet treat, or a quality takeout option.

Step inside, and you’ll discover a warm, inviting atmosphere where the aroma of freshly grilled sandwiches and baked desserts greets you like an old friend. La Tour Cafe’s menu is a treasure trove of distinctive flavors, from their famously indulgent Kouign Amanns—a buttery, flaky pastry with seasonal varieties like the sweet Potato Pie Kouign Amann, featuring sweet potato custard and autumn spices crowned with toasted marshmallow, to the decadent Dark Chocolate Kouign Amann glazed in rich chocolate. These desserts not only satisfy your sweet tooth but elevate traditional European pastries with a Hawaiian twist that’s as comforting as it is inventive.

On the savory side, the sandwich selections shine with creativity and fresh ingredients. Favorites like the Wagyu Melt, the falafel Bahn Mi sandwich, and the chicken pesto panini have earned loyal fans. Customers rave about the perfectly grilled bread on the paninis and the flavorful, crispy pomme frites that accompany many dishes. A shared hot clam chowder or onion soup adds a cozy, heartwarming element to any meal, creating a pleasant balance of textures and tastes. Salads, such as the goat cheese and beets salad—often generously swapped with fresh mozzarella when cheese availability varies—bring brightness and freshness to the plate.

For those who enjoy layering flavors at home, La Tour Cafe also offers a curated selection of retail goods, including unique Lavosh crackers in Lilikoi, Mango, and Sesame varieties, alongside house-made bulk items like Swiss dressing and pickled daikon and carrots. These add an extra dimension of local flavor and make perfect gifts or pantry staples.

Patrons consistently highlight La Tour Cafe's friendly and attentive staff, even during the busiest times, enhancing the overall dining experience. While some have noted occasional minor misses—such as a slightly dryer chicken pesto sandwich or the premium pricing on certain items—the overwhelming consensus is one of satisfaction and a desire to return. As one local put it, the food “always makes me happy,” capturing the genuine affection many feel for this hidden gem.

Whether you’re a resident looking for a dependable spot with a pleasant vibe and delicious fare or a visitor eager to indulge in Hawaiian-European fusion flavors, La Tour Cafe offers a memorable culinary experience. Its combination of lovingly prepared dishes, inviting environment, and thoughtful touches ensures it’s not just a meal, but a moment of comfort and joy.

Chose to grab my Bday lunch here today because the food always makes me happy and as usual, I was not let down. Hot clam chowder, onion soup, and pomme frites were shared with my favorite falafel bahn mi sandwich. We also ordered the goat cheese and beets salad but since there was no goat cheese, it was substituted with a generous cluster of mozzarella cheese cubes. I added a couple of stamps to my kouign amann stamp card with the apple flavored goodies which were warmed up upon request and the best with coffee. If you can still grab them at Costco, you can pick up $50 gift cards for just $40 (bought them to give away and use for my own savings). Only thing that would have made my visit even more special is if I could have enjoyed the croque monsieur just one more time (ltc please bring them back!), but that’s just me being selfish.

Was looking for a random cafe to eat at for lunch in the area and stumbled across this place! Absolutely love it! Decent variety to choose from and a plethora of different macaroons to try out as well! Gave 4 stars just cause the the chicken pesto I had was lacking in the chicken side and was pretty dry tasting. Everything else was fabulous though! Definitely will be going back to try out the other menu options.

We’re from the mainland and stumbled across LaTour Cafe by accident. I will now have to suffer knowing that I cant have this amazingness in North Carolina! Everything we had was DELICIOUS! The Wagyu Melt, the Pho sandwich, the Swiss dip for the fries, and the Macarons we’re all very fresh and tasty. I HIGHLY recommend! Staff was very busy and still was very friendly. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

I had the chicken pesto panini, with spinach. The sandwich was very good, it had lots of flavor. The bread was grilled just right, this is definitely a good sandwich. The fries are very flavorful, perfectly cooked (fried) seasoned well. They're known for their macaroons, I haven't had one yet......but I eventually will. The case is full of them with bright colors and as tempting as they may be, I haven't tried them. I'm sure they're pretty good. I will definitely be back, nice spot for lunch to pick up some good food!

It was ok, but not the best. I’m glad I tried it, but wouldn’t go back. My husband and I got the wagu melt and it was good, but not for how much it cost for those plus two lemonades. It’s cute, and a random guy said he was having a good day and got us a s’more croissant which made the trip there worth it.

10/8/2021 My sis treated me to lunch here today. I've stuck to the Mac and Cheese as well as the Goat Cheese & Beet salad in the past, so I figured I'd try something new this time. I got the Wagyu beef melt, fries, an apple Kouign Amann, and a roasted marshmallow macaron to go. The Wagyu Melt had a lot of flavor courtesy of the tasty spread on the beef, the cheese, and the spicy jalapenos which gave it a great kick. I enjoyed it! The only thing that would have improved this sandwich for me would be less buttery spread on the outside because it was kind of oily, which made holding and eating it quite messy. The fries were cooked perfectly. I couldn't finish my sandwich but it and the fries were delicious the next day too. It was my first time trying a Kouign Amann. It was like eating a very buttery, crispy yet tender, light & flaky apple pie. Yum! The macaron didn't disappoint. The roasted marshmallow flavor was strong and the macaron was awesome as usual. This macaron was green and purple. It stained our mouths & lips and gave us a good laugh after we ate. LaTour had friendly and fast service. The only reason for the four stars was due to the priceyness.

For a first time visit, I gotta say it was quite pleasant, not too heavy of a meal, just chose a couple of sandwiches between me, my other half and our friend. I got the wagyu melt, which was amazingly delicious and light for a meal along with the paradise tea, my other half got the tuna sandwich, which was just as good, as my friend got the French dip as we also enjoyed some garlic fries on the side, yum! Soon after, we of course got the macarons! So seeing as how it's my father's birthday, I made to get one of each flavor. And just so my parents can have one of the same flavor, I got them both a green tea macaron. Happy Birthday Dad! Hope you enjoy these! But other than that, I also got some for me and my other half to enjoy later. I do suggest getting the lilikoi macaron.. it's light in flavor and not too terribly sweet. :3 So come enjoy a nice day here at La Tour Cafe with friends and loved ones.
